Campus Socialization of Politeknik Statistika STIS and Introduction to BPS

Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) of Solok Selatan Regency organized a series of socialization activities at seven High Schools/Religious High Schools (SMA/MA) in the region. The event aimed to introduce the Politeknik Statistika STIS Campus and provide insights into BPS activities, particularly in the introduction of Census and Surveys, to increase public awareness of the importance of data.

The activities took place on January 29, 2024, January 30, 2024, and February 1, 2024, involving seven schools scattered across Solok Selatan Regency. On January 29, 2024, BPS Solok Selatan Regency visited SMAN 6 Solok Selatan and MAN 1 Solok Selatan. On January 30, 2024, SMAN 5 Solok Selatan, SMAN 4 Solok Selatan, MAN 2 Solok Selatan, and SMAN 1 Solok Selatan were visited. Meanwhile, on February 1, 2024, SMAN 3 Solok Selatan hosted the socialization event.

The arrival of BPS Solok Selatan Regency was warmly welcomed by all students in the seven schools. Students had the opportunity to get to know the Politeknik Statistika STIS, a vocational campus specializing in statistics. Additionally, they were provided with insights into various activities carried out by BPS, particularly in the areas of Census and Surveys.

Abdul Razi, S.Si, the Head of BPS Solok Selatan Regency, also attended the socialization activities at several schools. In his address, Abdul Razi conveyed motivation to the students about the importance of data in community development. "Data is the fundamental basis for planning and decision-making. With accurate data, we can formulate policies that are precise and suitable for the needs of the community," he stated.

This socialization is expected to provide a better understanding to the younger generation about the role of statistics and data management in development. Furthermore, the activity also serves as a means to inspire high school students in Solok Selatan Regency to pursue higher education, especially at the Politeknik Statistika STIS.
