Abstract

The availability of timely and accurate agricultural data is the foundation for realizing agricultural policies that are right on target. Since 2018, BPS has collaborated with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN) which has now merged into the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (Ministry of ATR/ BPN), as well as the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) are trying to improve the methodology for calculating rice harvest area through the application of objective measurements by utilizing advances in information and communication technology and the availability of high resolution satellite imagery. This collaboration was realized in an activity entitled "Integrated Food Crop Agricultural Statistics Data Collection Using the Area Sample Frame (KSA) Method" or better known as the KSA Survey. The implementation of the KSA Survey for rice commodities began to be implemented nationally in 2018. Field observations of the KSA Survey were carried out on the last 7 (seven) days of each month. Based on the results of the KSA Survey, in 2023, the rice harvest area will reach around 13,288.45 hectares or an increase of 1,240.54 hectares (10.30 percent) compared to 2022. Meanwhile, rice production in 2023 will be 54,601.34 tons GKG . If converted into rice, rice production in 2023 will reach around 31,615.42 tons, or an increase of 2,803.16 tons (9.73 percent) compared to rice production in 2022.
